The Business Case
This project is in collaboration with Believe Housing Association in the North East of England. Believe is a Social Housing Org. that is required to retrofit most of their 18,000 homes by 2050, as per the Green Agenda. Our Team at Royal College of Art, looked at how might we deliver radical care to the residents through every part of the disruptive retrofit journey. This was more challenging as most of the residents were in the older generation and hence more resistant to behaviour change. Our vision is to enable energy-positive behaviour change in the residents through the retrofit journey, in order to make the retrofits a success.

My unique contribution was that of context and understanding of the processes. Having been a construction project and client manager in the past, I was able to help the team navigate through the workings of the different departments within believe, define their relevance in residents lives and also predict the disruptive instances of the retrofit experience in advance. This understanding helped our project stay grounded in reality and also enabled us to target multiple facets of the ecosystem at once.
