Signal is an alert app that comes integrated with a haptic wearable, which assists the hearing impaired in responding to emergencies and changes around them.It was developed in response to the UK Governments Grand Challenge of Healthy Aeging. The Mission of this challenge is to "Ensure that people can enjoy at least 5 extra healthy, independent years of life by 2035, while narrowing the gap between the experience of the richest and poorest."

Connection to other public systems like tube stations helps you be up to date with your route information. This is especially helpful when during a crowded train one is unable to look at the digital boards or cannot hear the announcements for next stations.

Such a network can leverage from existing techonology and data collection systems, to provide valuable information to the disadvantaged ones around to help empower them to be more independent and confident about their day-to- day activities.
Signal is based on an integrated data system which connects to other data hubs like various city notification systems(fire, public transportation hubs), crowd-sourced citizen-reported information(real time data collected from sources like social media for super fast news), etc to give real-time safety alerts about incidents happening near you through haptic feedback on your wearable, like when a fire is happening in the neighbourhood.
The app also integrates with smart home appliances(like door locks, fire alarms, etc), so you know when your delivery man is outside ringing your doorbell. The sound recognition and machine learning capabilities (like siri, alexa) , allows the system to become smarter as it grows, recognise your name in case one is calling for help.
